A New Form of Resistance Training

Resistance That Responds.

FOB is a new form of resistance training built around a moving weighted attachment. As it shifts, your body has to keep adjusting, helping you train strength, conditioning, coordination, and core control all at the same time.

What It Is

The weight does not stay still.

During FOB training, the weighted attachment moves as you move. Your body has to control it, redirect it, and stay balanced as the resistance changes. That turns simple movements into full-body training for strength, conditioning, and control.

A dumbbell only moves when you move it. This keeps moving on its own.

Why You'll Care

One training method.
Three ways it helps.

FOB coaching outdoors: controlling the moving ballast while walking, building body balance
01

Move With More Control

Strengthen your core, improve your balance, and learn to control your body while the resistance keeps changing.

FOB coaching outdoors: redirecting the moving ballast under tension, building reactive strength
02

Build a Strong, Athletic Body

Train your core, shoulders, arms, and upper body while improving your conditioning. The goal is a body that looks strong because it can actually do more.

FOB coaching outdoors: sustaining repeated effort with the moving ballast, building endurance capacity
03

Keep Going When You Get Tired

Build the strength and conditioning to maintain better movement, control, and effort deeper into a workout, game, or active day.

An Original Training Practice

FOB was built from the ground up.

FOB is an original resistance-training practice created by Jahsua Matthews. He studied exercise science, has spent years coaching people in gyms and in private training, and built the FOBallast himself, rebuilding and testing each prototype on his own body before teaching it to anyone else. The equipment and the training method were developed together.

The practice is still growing, and new movements and progressions are being tested and added. For now FOB is taught through supervised sessions so each person learns to control the moving resistance safely and understands how the training should feel. Jah coaches every session personally.

Questions

Before you book.

Do I need to be fit or experienced?

No. FOB scales to every level and your first session is coached from the first rep. Nobody is thrown in.

Is this a gym membership?

No. FOB runs as individual coached sessions at outdoor training locations in Brooklyn. You pay per session, nothing recurring. Outdoor courts and open training areas are used because they give you enough space to use the equipment safely.

Do I need to play a sport?

No. FOB is for general fitness, strength, conditioning, body control, and athletic performance. Sessions are adjusted to your experience and goals, whether you are beginning to exercise, already train regularly, or play a competitive sport.

What should I bring?

Comfortable training shoes and water. The FOBallast and everything else is provided.

How long is a private FOB session?

Private FOB sessions generally last between 45 and 60 minutes. Exact duration may depend on setup, instruction, current progression, and the amount of controlled training appropriate for the session.

How does payment work?

Payment instructions are provided privately after your session request is approved. Payment must be received and confirmed before the scheduled training day.

Are group classes available?

Small-group FOB classes are coming soon and will be limited to 4 to 8 participants. The Founding FOBber rate will start at $50 per person, with a standard rate of $90 per person.
